Cookie Notice

Last updated: 29 July 2026

This notice explains how Orbit & Balance uses cookies and similar technologies on our website.

The short version: we only use cookies that are strictly necessary to run the site and keep you logged in. We don't use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics like Google Analytics or the Meta Pixel — so we don't need to show you a consent banner.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device. They're used for things like keeping you logged in, remembering preferences, or measuring how a site is used. Similar technologies (like browser localStorage or session identifiers) work in comparable ways.

2. What we use

Name Purpose Duration Category
token Keeps you signed in to the client portal after login. Contains a signed JWT session identifier — no personal data. Up to 30 days, or until you log out Strictly necessary
Session identifier (in-page) A random ID generated in your browser per page visit, used to group anonymous page-view events (e.g. "someone completed step 2 of the calorie calculator"). Not persisted between page loads and never linked to your identity. Cleared when you leave the page Anonymous analytics

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), "strictly necessary" cookies do not require prior consent. Because we do not deploy any non-essential cookies, we do not display a cookie consent banner.

3. Third-party services

A small number of third-party services we rely on may set cookies of their own when you interact with them:

4. How to control cookies

You can block or delete cookies via your browser settings at any time. Blocking the token cookie will mean you can't stay logged in to the client portal — most other functionality will still work as normal.

Instructions for popular browsers: Chrome · Firefox · Safari · Edge.

5. Changes to this notice

If we ever start using non-essential cookies (for example, if we add third-party analytics or advertising in the future), we will update this notice and add a consent banner before those cookies are set.
